De Lucca Wines

At the beginning of the 20th century, the De Lucca and Galerato families arrived in Uruguay from Italy. Before the Second World War they began to cultivate vines in the El Colorado area, producing wine on a small scale for their own consumption and sale in the commune itself.

In 1945, the commercial production and sale of wines began, reaching productive and commercial growth in 1950. The constant work of the De Lucca family, applying a futuristic vision, developed the production of fine wines that in the sixties were distributed throughout the country.

In 1984, the reconstruction of the vineyards in Uruguay began. Reinaldo De Lucca, current director of the company, was one of the main protagonists in participating in this process. A new stage of production begins based on the incorporation of new genetic material in the vineyards, along with a technological investment for the production of fine wines.
